Whether you want soft skin, shiny hair, a healthier cooking oil, a more effective and less harmful way to rinse your mouth than that painful, burning mouthwash, coconut oil is our go-to for nearly everything.

Between the medium-chain fatty acids that make it one of the healthiest fats you can consume in addition to the lauric acid that contains antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties, coconut oil truly is a miracle oil.

Similar to coconut oil, this natural health staple is becoming more and more popular as of late even though it benefits have long been used in Ayurvedic medicine for cleansing, therapeutic and cosmetic purposes.

In addition to having antibacterial and antiviral properties, turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antioxidant, and it’s a rich source of iron. It’s these properties that make turmeric a potent agent for detoxifying the liver, stimulating digestion, and boosting immunity among other benefits.

Some of our favorite ways of using turmeric include making anti-inflammatory golden milk (we love this recipe from Happy Healthy Mama), mixing it into smoothies, muddling it with lemon juice and honey for a DIY face mask, and cooking with it (we can’t resist a good homemade chicken curry dish).

Apple Cider Vinegar

Shoot it in the morning for a metabolic boost or to soothe a sore throat, swipe it over your countertops to get rid of nasty bacteria, mix it in with your tea, the uses for apple cider vinegar are nearly endless.

Like our two previous pantry staples, apple cider vinegar is antimicrobial and antiviral, but it also can bleach surfaces without all the harmful chemicals you find in the majority of other name brand cleaning products.

In addition to all the ways you can use ACV (that’s right, we’re on acronym basis with this close friend) for cleaning your home, you can also use it to cleanse your system.

Various studies have found that ACV in the diet helps cleanse the lymph nodes to boost your lymphatic system, reduces heartburn by correcting low acid, detoxifies the liver, stimulates circulation, and works to keep the body in a more alkaline state.

An Aloe Plant

Not only do we love the way an aloe plant adds a little color to a kitchen windowsill, but it’s also filled with health benefits you’ll want to have on hand for a variety of reasons.

A commonly known way to use aloe vera is for the treatment of sunburns and other burns. That’s all thanks to aloe’s antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, which makes it excellent for protecting and healing wounds.
